Any chance we could have an option to keep the Win7-look icons? It would be great to have visual consistency with the OS.

No, currently I have no plans for switching icons. Also, the old icons were actually taken from a very old icon set for Linux, so I wouldn't say they were exactly consistent with Win7 :).
Linux icons - that explains why the looked so familiar/comfortable! :-)
Anyways, if you'd ever consider adopting the OS icon theme, that would definitely get my vote.
